The building that Flynn’s is housed in was built in 1965 and served as the Municipal Building for Ocean Drive Beach. The City of North Myrtle Beach was formed when Ocean Drive Beach, Crescent Beach, Cherry Grove, and Windy Hill voted to become one in 1968.  Once the City of North Myrtle Beach was established, the building became the cities police department and stayed as the police department until the 1980’s when they moved their headquarters to 1015 2nd Avenue South. Although a lot of renovations has been performed throughout the years, there are still jail cells present and we are happy to show anyone who wants to see them. Marty and Jane Flynn bought the building in 2001 as an existing Irish Tavern. With no former restaurant experience, they transformed Flynn’s into what it is today. Marty was born in County Roscommon, Ireland and came to the United States as a child with his mother and sisters. Marty joined the Army when he turned 18 and then had a successful career on Wall Street until retiring after 41 years. He still keeps to his Irish roots and visits his friends and family in Ireland every year.
